At the end of these five months of stay at Girotondo Basecamp, it\u2019s time to tell my experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design I felt the need to make inspiring experiences before continuing my studies. So I decided to contact Antonio and Julia to know if there would be a possibility of doing an internship \/ residency with them, at Girotondo Basecamp. The response was immediately positive despite they were in the middle of the refurbishment. In January 2025 I arrived in Cervarezza Terme and since then, for five months, I have carried out various activities, both in my area of responsibility and not, staying at the Basecamp on weekdays and returning to Milan on weekends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this “hybrid” internship we alternated istitutional moments of work to more practical works at the basecamp. I had the opportunity to work at Anto’s studio in Reggio Emilia, where I carried out a communication activity creating animated illustrations with Adobe After Effects. I was immersed in an high-level professional environment, close to the team of architects, the CAIRE consortium and the curator Lucia Pesapane. I visited the construction sites of Vetto Social Club and North Sails Flagship Store in Milan, for which I did a research for office furniture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gradually my job has became exclusively at Girotondo, where I carried out many multidisciplinary activities. At the design level I was responsible for building the website and blog of the company, and I made a millimetric survey of the existing beds to then co-design a new double bunk bed with attached lockers, able to accommodate up to four people in single or double beds. At the same time I helped to part of the renovation of the building. Jules and I smoothed and whitewashed the rooms’ walls, applied cork panels on some of them, then tided up and decorated all the rooms for the guests’ arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing an interest in permaculture practice with Julia, our conversations about it were formative, walking around the gardens planting seeds with the spring arrival. Related to this sometimes it happened that I took care of the animals, from the dog to the chickens, or to the guinea pigs, and being a co-living, I helped with the housekeeping (cleaning and cooking) and sometimes helped with the children Gaia and Elio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My typical day at Girotondo Basecamp started with a good cup of tea for breakfast, sometimes accompanied by an homemade cake by Julia. Then I started the office work or the manual, or both, depending on the need, divided between morning and afternoon with the lunch break in the middle. In the late afternoon my free time began and I used to walk with the dog, read a book or stay with Jules and the children until dinner. Everyday was different but always challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These five months have taught me a great deal, both in training and personally terms. I feel grown up and more confident of my abilities and my values, surely thanks to the fact it has been a curious, experimental and 360\u00b0 internship. Being a co-living, I believe that it was inevitable that our relationship became also of friendship, as well as work. Such that we celebrated my first month at Girotondo Basecamp going skiing on the slopes of Cerreto Laghi! I was welcomed with great enthusiasm in the Girotondo community, knowing so many interesting people, such as friends, relatives, colleagues and guestes. Also the participation at some of the NOI program’s meetings were really formative and inspiring, allowing me to discover different people and realities, linked together by the will of social commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was my first real experience of live far from home, although I returned every weekend: (co-)living in new spaces with new people and many animals, moving from the flat landscape of the city to the mountain village, learning to know new personal aspects and to manage my emotions. I warmly thank Anto and Jules for having placed in me a great trust and having built together this design residency \/ internship experience, positively unusual, curious and formative, which also helped me to understand something more about my future! I will take with me every advice and memory.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Conclusi questi cinque mesi a Girotondo Basecamp, \u00e8 il momento di raccontare la mia esperienza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dopo aver conseguito la laurea triennale in design degli interni sentivo il bisogno di fare delle esperienze stimolanti prima di proseguire i miei studi. Ho deciso di contattare Antonio e Julia per sapere se ci sarebbe stata la possibilit\u00e0 di svolgere un tirocinio da loro, presso Girotondo Basecamp e da subito la risposta \u00e8 stata positiva nonostante fossero nel pieno della ristrutturazione. A gennaio 2025 sono arrivata a Cervarezza Terme e da quel momento, per cinque mesi, ho svolto svariate attivit\u00e0, sia di mia competenza che non, soggiornando al Basecamp nei giorni feriali e tornando a Milano nei giorni festivi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante questo tirocinio \u201cibrido\u201d abbiamo alternato momenti istituzionali di lavoro in studio a momenti pi\u00f9 pratici presso il basecamp. Ho avuto la possibilit\u00e0 di lavorare nello studio di Antonio a Reggio Emilia, svolgendo un\u2019attivit\u00e0 di comunicazione realizzando illustrazioni animate con After Effects di Adobe, in un ambiente professionale di alto livello, a stretto contatto con il team di architetti, il consorzio CAIRE e la curatrice Lucia Pesapane. Ho visitato i cantieri del Vetto Social Club e del Flagship Store di North Sails a Milano, per cui ho svolto una ricerca per gli arredi degli uffici.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A poco a poco il mio lavoro si \u00e8 trasferito esclusivamente a Girotondo, dove ho svolto numerose attivit\u00e0 multidisciplinari. A livello progettuale mi sono occupata di costruire il sitoweb e il blog dell\u2019azienda, conducendo un reportage fotografico dell\u2019edificio ristrutturato. Ho svolto un rilievo al millimetro degli esistenti letti per poi co-progettare un nuovo doppio letto a castello con armadiature annesse, capace di ospitare fino a quattro persone in letti singoli o matrimoniali. Contemporaneamente ho contribuito in parte alla ristrutturazione dell\u2019edificio: con Jules abbiamo rasato e imbiancato i muri delle stanze, applicato pannelli di sughero su alcuni di essi, riordinando e decorando poi le camerate per l\u2019arrivo degli ospiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Condividendo un interesse per la permacultura con Julia, sono state formative le nostre conversazioni a riguardo, passeggiando in giardino e piantando semi con l\u2019arrivo della primavera. Connesso a ci\u00f2 \u00e8 capitato che mi occupassi anche della cura degli animali, dal cane ai polli, ai porcellini d\u2019india e, trattandosi di una co-abitazione, ho contribuito alla gestione della casa (pulizie e cucina) e talvolta aiutato con i bimbi Gaia ed Elio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Una mia giornata tipo a Girotondo Basecamp iniziava con un buon t\u00e8 per colazione, talvolta accompagnato da una torta fatta in casa da Julia, poi si passava al lavoro d\u2019ufficio o manuale, o entrambi, a seconda della necessit\u00e0, suddiviso tra mattina e pomeriggio con una pausa pranzo in mezzo. Nel tardo pomeriggio iniziava il tempo libero che sfruttavo facendo una passeggiata con il cane, leggendo un libro o stando con Jules e i bimbi, fino a cena. Ogni giorno era diverso, ma sempre stimolante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Questi cinque mesi mi hanno insegnato tanto sia dal punto di vista formativo che personale. Mi sento cresciuta e pi\u00f9 sicura delle mie capacit\u00e0 e dei miei valori, sicuramente anche grazie al fatto che si sia trattato di un tirocinio a 360\u00b0, curioso e sperimentale. Credo che, trattandosi di un co-living, sia stato inevitabile che il nostro rapporto diventasse anche di amicizia, oltre che lavorativo. Tanto da celebrare il mio primo mese a Girotondo Basecamp andando a sciare sulle piste di Cerreto Laghi! Sono stata accolta con grande entusiasmo nella community di Girotondo, venendo in contatto con amici, parenti, colleghi e ospiti di grande interesse. Anche la partecipazione ad alcuni degli incontri del programma NOI sono stati formativi e stimolanti, scoprendo persone e realt\u00e0 differenti, legate tra loro dalla volont\u00e0 di impegno sociale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c8 stata la mia prima vera esperienza di vita lontano da casa, per quanto tornassi ogni weekend: (co-)abitare in nuovi spazi con nuove persone e tanti animali, passare dalla citt\u00e0 pianeggiante al paesello di montagna, imparare a conoscere nuovi aspetti di me e a gestire le mie emozioni. Ringrazio di cuore Anto e Jules per aver riposto in me una grande fiducia e aver costruito insieme questa esperienza di tirocinio, positivamente inusuale, curiosa e formativa, che mi ha aiutato anche a capire qualcosa di pi\u00f9 sul mio futuro!
